John Day Lock and Dam, Vertical Lift, Downstream Lock Gate

Vigor manufactured the 105 foot by 85 foot, 1000 ton vertical lift gate in four sections. Each section was transported on a barge from our deep water access on the Columbia River to the John Day Lock and Dam for field assembly and installation. Ensuring seamless fit between the gate sections was of paramount importance for the complex field assembly. Vigor’s innovative modular machining capability allowed us to fabricate the 300 to 400 ton components in our shop with the precision needed.

In addition to the vertical lift lock gate Vigor also provided new counter weight sheaves that facilitate the raising and lowering of the gate.
