Golden Gate Bridge Suicide Deterrent System
The iconic Golden Gate Bridge was originally built in 1937 and is known throughout the world as one of the greatest suspension bridges ever built. Vigor was selected by prime contractor, Shimmick Construction to fabricate steel for the Suicide Deterrent System. This includes the support frames for the net system on both sides of the bridge, new guard rail panels for the west side of the pedestrian walkway and a new wind faring system for the west side. In keeping with the Golden Gate’s history the components are all manufactured to appear as the original components but these structures have all been built using modern materials and fabrication techniques.
