The City of Chicago needed three large, 96-inch wastewater valves coated to exacting specs. For A-C Valve of Woodland, WA., Specialty Finishes masked and coated the 11 ft. x 35 ft. valves. Each unit weighed 52,000 pounds.
To assist in the rehabilitation of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Tongue Point pier at Astoria, Oregon, our Specialty Finishes experts blasted, prepared, and primed nearly a mile (4,665 ft.) of 24” diameter pipe piles in 72 ft. to 76 ft. lengths.
Our Specialty Finishes subsidiary was asked to blast and coat more than a dozen mooring buoys for a port security project. For CNC Machine & Fabrication of Hyde Park, UT, we abrasive blasted the buoys to an SP-10 near white blast cleaning with a 1.5 to 2.5 mil profile. Adhesion testing was per ASTM D454; dry film thickness (DFT) was in accordance with SSPC-PA2. Specialty Finishes applied five coats of paint including zinc prime and anti-foulant top coat.
